Wedge suspensions are important systems for three-piece bogies.
The bogie wedge suspension device is a wedge-shaped variable friction damping device, which is composed of side frame column wear plate, combined wedge, inclined wear plate and double stiffness damping springs. Friction resistance is generated between the wedge and the wear plate of the side frame column to attenuate the vibration energy.
As proven, optimized designed wedge with the best inclination angle plays important role in reducing vertical acceleration and the friction between wheel and rail, the deviation on rail between loaded and empty running condition. The railway freight cars equipped with the best inclination angle wedge has qualitative improvement in stable operation, hunting speed, and derailment probability.
Friction wedge is made of ADI (Austenitic Ductile Iron), Casting alloy steel or grey cast iron by casting. The manufacturing process complies with the requirements of China railway or other country railway standards.We could design various friction wedges for the requirements of various bolster and side frame interfaces of different bogies.
